Monsanto, Cheerios, and GMOs

Information on GMO’s is easy to find using any search engine you prefer. Just scan through the results for reputable-looking sites. There is a video called The Lies of GMO on YouTube that you might find interesting. Although, I can’t say for sure if it’s reputable! I saw the link on a site arguing against GMOs so no doubt it is biased, as most things are.

Personally, I have not conducted enough research to form a definitive opinion on the matter. I have heard enough nay-saying on GMO’s and GE’s, however, that I am leaning against it. This matter was brought to my attention this morning when I saw an ad for Cheerios, wanting readers to sponsor books for children. Sounds great. I read some of the comments, and to my surprise, they were all about Cheerios containing GMO’s, and how terrible it is. What a shock for me! I grew up eating these, and I have been feeding them to my son. Apparently they are not what they used to be.

There is an article called Cheerios: The Lies That General Mills Feeds Us that, again, may or may not be from a reliable source. Feel free to read it and let me know what you think.

I realize I am posting a lot of links, and the reason is because I am not qualified to give you any kind of opinion, much less suggestion, on this. Rather, I am seeking out your ideas, suggestions, advice. But I want it backed up by facts. I have had enough heresay. I am interested in cold, hard facts. Links to reputable resources and scientific evidence, either way.

Speaking of reputable, I think this resource, may be one(!): Why Grains and Glutens aren’t bad for you. And how about this one, assuming there is such a thing as a ‘healthy’ cereal (please say there is because I am a cereal nut!).

The problem is always, of course, that with online information, anyone, anywhere, can put up anything so there is no verifying credentials. If someone knows web development, they can make a website look legitimate.

I look forward to your input! Healthy eating and Happy Memorial Day!
